Azerbaİjanİ Presİdent: "Those who today sİt İn the hİghest offİces İn Yerevan are war crİmİnals"

APA. "Azerbaijan is the country has suffered from terrorism. In the first years of independence at the turn of the 1990s and early 1990s, Armenian terrorist organizations have carried out more than 30 terror attacks on our territory. They blew up the subway, ferries, and intercity buses. As a result of these attacks killed more than 2 thousands of innocent citizens of Azerbaijan”, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on October 8 at a meeting with participants of the 18th meeting of the Conference of the special services of Turkic states, APAreports.

The Head of State noted that Azerbaijan has experienced, meaning international terrorism, especially when the international community remains indifferent to these problems: "We are left alone against international terrorism at the beginning of the 1990s. We have not received any assistance from the international community in the fight against terrorism and its forces were able to suppress this evil, to eradicate it and to punish those who had brought so much grief to innocent citizens of Azerbaijan".

"The terror attacks against Azerbaijan were part of the policy of occupation of Azerbaijani lands, which was carried out by Armenia in the early 1990s. As a result, about 20 per cent of the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan was under occupation and more than a million Azerbaijanis have become refugees and IDPs in their own homeland. We are faced with a severe humanitarian catastrophe. The economic situation in the country was extremely difficult. Almost industry has paralyzed. The economy has collapsed, inflation reached more than 1,000 per cent per annum. In these circumstances, a million homeless people who have lost everything - property and homes as a result of Armenian aggression were forced to seek refuge in Baku and other cities of Azerbaijan. Per capita it was then, perhaps, the highest - a million refugees in the country, which at that time consisted of little more than 8 million people”, - the President said.

The President noted that the Armenian occupation is a violation not only of international law but also a violation of all human standards: "There are wars between countries, there are conflicts, but we should strive always to keep a human face. Khojaly tragedy as a peaceful city was destroyed by Armenian gangs during the night, says with some atrocities our people faced. For more than ten countries have officially recognized the Khojaly genocide as genocide. And the responsibility for it lies with the leadership of Armenia - current and former".

"The Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict - this is a big threat to regional security and stability. It is a violation of all international legal norms. The UN Security Council - the supreme international body adopted four resolutions demanding an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian occupying forces from Azerbaijani territory. These resolutions are not fulfilled. We demand the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions. It is our legitimate demand. And the public of Azerbaijan, and very surprised, but probably to a greater extent is outraged by the fact that in some cases the UN Security Council resolutions are carried out within one day. And in this case it was more than 20 years, and these resolutions remain on paper. This is - the policy of double standards, it is - contempt of international law, disrespect for the decision of the supreme international body, which is the UN Security Council, "said President Ilham Aliyev”, the Head of State emphasized.

The President noted that Azerbaijan faced with injustice, prejudice, double standards, in some cases, the promotion of the aggressor: "Armenia is an aggressor, an occupier, a country which has violated all internationally accepted norms. It was occupied not only Nagorno-Karabakh, which is a historical Azerbaijani land, but had in the Soviet era autonomy. And it is not the republic and the region - Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast. But more and occupied seven regions outside the administrative borders of Nagorno-Karabakh region. In these areas, almost no Armenians lived. All these areas are populated by Azerbaijanis. They were expelled, their homes destroyed, all our historical monuments, mosques and cemeteries destroyed and museums looted. And those who now sit in the highest offices in Yerevan are war criminals. And we must tell the truth. Because if we do not say the truth and to hush up and pretend that nothing happened, the same thing will happen in other countries".

"It is not just the history proves that it is impossible to pursue a policy of flirting with the aggressor. And in the last century, in the 1930s, and the emergence of fascism, Nazism, those evils that Nazism brought humanity - all this begins with the fact that some countries have flirted with the aggressor. We do not want to notice, do not want to see what happens. There is no difference between fascism, nazism of the last century and Armenia’s current actions doing in the occupied territories. This is  the concept of the same order. And it is necessary that the entire world community knew this and made efforts in order to establish peace in the region. But peace can be established only on a fair basis. Azerbaijan's territorial integrity is as important as the territorial integrity of any other country. And it needs to be rebuilt. I say to you, the leaders of the security services of friendly countries know more detail the issue. Because the Armenian circles are trying to deceive the international community, trying to spread false information, rumors about the nature of the conflict, on the outcome, trying to portray himself as a victim. But we must know the truth. The truth is that's what I'm talking about, and what I say, confirms the story documents the facts", Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
