Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hikmet Hajiyev said Armenia’s non-constructive policy towards the Minsk Group-mediated negotiations, aimed at deceiving the international community, and that it even dares to distort the essence of statements made by the co-chair countries’ presidents is a huge disrespect for the Minsk Group format.
He noted that Armenia recently demonstrated this policy by causing escalation on the front line while the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council was underway in Belgrade on 3-4 Dec.2015 and OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs were making statements regarding the peace settlement at the level of foreign ministers.
“In contrast with the Charter of the United Nations, Armenia has occupied Azerbaijani territories by use of [military] force and by committing ethnic cleansing, turned a blind eye to Resolutions 822, 853, 874, and 884 of the United Nations regarding the conflict, committed illegal acts in occupied territories including the vandalism against cultural and religious monuments belonging to the Azerbaijani people – all of these are a huge disrespect for the international community and international law,” said Hikmet Hajiyev.
Note that, Edward Nalbandyan met with Armenian ambassadors to foreign countries and permanent delegations to international organizations in Austria on Friday. In response to the calls of the foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries, he said at the meeting that the recent escalation along the front line is a “slap in the face’ for the co-chair countries and the international community.
