He made the remarks on the occasion of Germany’s presidency ofOSCE.
The minister said he wouldn’t like to accept the fact that the conflicts in the post-Soviet space are called frozen ones.
“Every year, people are suffering from the conflict, development in those regions are delayed. We want to stabilize the ceasefire, strengthen confidence and facilitate people's daily lives by strengthening economic ties through small, but concrete steps. Armed clashes along the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops trigger concern,” he added.
Steinmeier said the recent terrorist attacks in Istanbul, Paris and Beirut showed that nobody is immune from terrorism. “Obviously, no country can fight against this threat alone. Therefore, we should strengthen the capacity of combating terrorist threats along with all 57 OSCE member states in near future,” he concluded.
