Medvedev said that Russia, as anOSCE Minsk Group member, supports the peaceful settlement of theNagorno-Karabakh conflict and making efforts which can play a role in rebuilding confidence and resolving the conflict.
Russia is equally interested in the conflict’s settlement as Azerbaijan and Armenia are, the PM added.
Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are strategic in nature and rely on friendship and mutual respect, according to Medvedev.
“The economic situation is undergoing a period that is not easy at all. Further development of economic ties and investment between the two countries is vital,” the PM stressed.
Azerbaijan and Russia have huge energy and transport projects, Medvedev said, noting the importance of bilateral cooperation in the Caspian Sea and the region.
It’s important to cooperate on the electro energy and humanitarian fields, and the development of tourism is a pressing issue as well, he added.
This visit had been planned but it took place much earlier due to the latest developments, and that’s the right step, the PM said.
