Désir visited the so-called “Armenian genocide” memorial in Yerevan on Monday.
France urges the parties to the conflict not to resort to force, the secretary of state noted.
“I have brought a message that the talks should resumed. They [talks] are needed to prevent an outbreak of violence that we have observed in recent times,” he said. “We should all to unite our efforts in order to establish lasting peace based on three fundamental principles – non use of force, people’s right to self-determination and territorial integrity. This is message for what I’m here.”
Désir went on to say that France wants the parties are able to negotiate and abide by the ceasefire. “Both sides are suffering from this conflict which cannot be called a ‘frozen’ as causalities among soldiers and civilians are reported every month,” he stressed.
